Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes...

In the stuttering chorus, hypnotic music composition and the lyrics of David Bowie's 'Changes' -  which evoke a feeling of reflection and reinvention of ones' self...

Strange fascination, fascinating me
Changes are taking the pace
I'm going through

This speaks volumes of what is going on within right now, exciting yet terrifying!

I left the corporate world just last year to work in a local quilt shop, I also started my home quilting business part time. I met so many wonderful people and gained knowledge that helped me to continue to grow artistically. As the home quilting business became more than just part time, we (my husband and I) decided it was time to devote my time more towards the quilting business and back away from the shop. I will however miss my fellow coworkers and friends at the shop, I know this is the right decision for us.

This change will also be a time to share my knowledge and teach - things that I love to do in the quilting community.

More to come, and more quilting fun to be shared with you!!

Fun Quilting on a Sunday

Sunday I had the pleasure of quilting a baby boy quilt for a new client.

The quilt was an adorable Dresden Plate quilt with the cutest jungle print fabric.

Is that giraffe not the cutest thing you ever saw?!

She wanted the Dresden plates slightly outlined, small meandering in the white areas and a free-motion leaves in the outer boarder.

I really had a blast quilting this adorable baby quilt and know that some little guy is going to love it!

Happy Quilting,
Kira

Teaching at the Sew Modern Quilt Lab 2015

I had a blast teaching at the SMQL hosted by Emerald Coast Modern Quilt Guild on Sept 11th and 12th. I taught 'Pixel Quilting Basics - Pixel Heart Mini Quilt'.

Rainbow Heart by Elaine
I loved seeing all the different hearts created, each one as individual as the person that made it.

Our morning class was packed and these ladies were ready to go!! We laughed so hard at times and I can't remember the last time I this much fun!

The afternoon class was smaller but we had just as much fun as the morning class did. Everyone enjoyed playing with fabric and the hearts were fantastic!

Betty's super fun heart

Carmen made a Christmas heart to go with the whirling star from Susan's paper piecing class.

Whitney's lovely heart.

Susan's sunset color heart is so pretty.

Everyone went home with a completed top and a smile! I can't wait to do this again.

Funny Thing About Life...

... it gets in the way!

And sometimes its not so funny.

A lot has happened since my last post - my father in law lost his battle with cancer, I fell and fractured my orbital bone (cheek bone), my mother had a massive heart attack and my Guils crossed over the rainbow bridge (she was my Yorkshire terrier and constant companion of 18 years).

I always have wanted to keep my posts here cheerful and happy, but lately it has been hard.

With every passing day it is getting better!

Love and quiltyness to all,
Kira
